Community Policing for Today’s Law Enforcement

Training Goals and Objectives

The goal of the training program is to prepare the sworn law enforcement officer, administration, citizen police academy member, and staff member to identify techniques and develop organizational skills regarding community policing. This training will provide hands on practical applications for problem solving from in-house to community wide resolutions. In addition, the training offers decision making skills for ethical dilemmas and communication techniques to enhance community opinion and lessen complaints regarding discourteousness.

Training Audience, Format, and Content

This course is most successful when taught and received with audiences of 30 attendees or fewer.

This is a customized 2 day course. The course is designed to be conducted from 0800 to 1700 hours daily.

Student Pre–requisites: None

Maximum Enrollment: 30

Student Evaluation: The evaluation process will consist of classroom participation, active involvement in identifications and de-escalation role play, and participation in practical exercises.

Limitations/Special Needs:

Audio/visual to include power point projector

Student Materials

Student materials will involve copies of the handouts.

A wide range of digital video and power point presentations will be used in the training session, and the instructor will come prepared with everything she will need to make this an informative, fast-paced learning experience.

Detailed lesson plans are available as needed, but copies of the Power Point presentations and digital videos cannot be supplied with this document.
