Ken Schul

Ken began his law enforcement career in 1988 with the City of Charlotte Police Department and served in Street Patrol, training officer, Felony Investigations Division.  In 1995, Ken was promoted to the rank of sergeant and at the same time the county and city merged to form the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.  He has held numerous assignments as a Patrol Sergeant, Community Coordinator Sergeant and was on several street drug task forces in low income areas of the city.  He currently is assigned as the Crime Scene Manager for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and also supervises the Forensic Photo Lab.

His Department is the only totally digital capable police department in the nation for crime scene photos, fatalities, domestic violence cases and many other types of photographs.  Ken believes in using cutting edge technology to collect crime scene evidence.  He has developed an archive system where detectives and officers are able to access their photographs on a case, anywhere that the Department has an intranet connection.  Ken believes that forensic science is ever changing and that the law enforcement community must change with this movement, to continue keeping up with technology.

Ken believes in interactive teaching where the classroom participants are involved. He believes that every class can learn from the experiences of everyone in the class.
