Robert "Bob" W. Tortora has blended
his personal commitment to officer safety, his technical and tactical
expertise with his personal enthusiasm and insight, to create this
training model for first-responders to a critical incident. Bob has
gained professional insight having served within the challenges of a
large urban east coast police department, as well as during his 27 years
of service with the Golden Police Department, a small suburb west of
Denver, Colorado. Bob's experience as the Training Coordinator for Golden, combined with his background as Incident Commander in several high risk responses, has yielded this broad based training model. Bob has built upon his personal experience and motivation when he responded to assist the first-responders to the Columbine High School tragedy. Bob continues to instruct in the related areas of Tactical Bicycle Patrol, Use of Force Continuum, and RAID. Professional Background Information: Began law enforcement career with New Haven Department of Police Services, New Haven, Connecticut. 27 years current service with the Golden Police Department, Golden, Colorado. Supervisor over Community Services, Training, Internal Affairs, Recruitment ,School Resource Officers and Patrol Watch Commander. Bob has received the Columbine Award, Chief’s Star and Distinguished Service Medal. He is a graduate from the School of Police Staff and Command, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety. Tactical Skills: Motorcycle and Bicycle Patrol. Instructor: Incident Command, Bicycle Patrol, Community Policing, Taser Weaponry, RAID, Profiling, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. Current Assignment: Bob took an early retirement from the Golden Police Department in September 2006 and is currently a Security Consultant for both Law Enforcement and the Private Sector. |
