Laser (LIDAR) Speed Enforcement
Instructor Certification Course
This course will be modified to the
level of expertise in the audience and can be adapted in the classroom for
multiple levels of experience and understanding. This class can be further
broken down into two classes should the need arise.
Training Goals and Objectives
The goal of this (3) three-day,
24-hour operator/instructor certification course is to reinforce a certified
LIDAR Laser operator's knowledge, skills and abilities when using this type
of speed enforcement device. This class will provide the Laser radar
operator with the materials, practical training, and knowledge to instruct
and certify other law enforcement personnel in the use of LIDAR Laser speed
measurement enforcement. While previous laser based speed enforcement
certification and/or training is preferred, it is not a pre-requisite.
Training Audience, Format, and
Content
This course is intended for various
levels of law enforcement officers who preferably have certification and
experience utilizing laser speed enforcement devices. This course is
designed to consist of both classroom lectures and field practical work with
laser speed enforcement devices. This course will require a moderate level
of class participation from the students as well as a 5-minute presentation
by each student on a given topic assigned by the instructor. This class
normally operates on an 8-hour, 3-day time slot from 0830 hours to 1630
hours, but can be both modified and extended if needed. This class works
best when the student population is under 25 participants, but can extend to
a maximum of 40 students.
